It Happens Every Spring

My doctor can't explain my feverish condition That makes my heart stand still then suddenly take wing Each time I get a kind of tingly premonition That very soon it will be spring. I see rainbows, but it's clear, the sun is shining; I hear songbirds long before they start to sing. Each passing cloud I see shows me its silver lining, It's symptomatic every spring. His diagnosis is I'm suffering from daydreams, I'm like a puppet with no one to pull the strings. No vaccination can inoculate 'gainst fey dreams, So wait and see what tomorrow brings. If I still feel the way that I do today, He says don't worry, it will pass away. Like a heat rash, it's a temporary thing. So no prescription, just take two aspirins, Get lots of rest, and he'll see me again next spring.

Love the title, Jim. (I'm a long-suffering Chicago baseball fan). :) gw

Thanks, G. That's one "fever" I have never been plagued by.

Thanks, Ilene. I really can't help it because of the Bradford Pear trees. I had never seen them before coming to Missouri, and they instantly became a favorite for me.

It sounds serious Jim. However i believe his diagnosis was correct but then again Im no Dr. I have similar symptoms except mine involve fishing and laying in the hammock.

Not too serious, Daniel. I get this way, though, every year just about this time when the Bradford Pear trees begin to blossom. They're my personal favorite harbingers of Spring. And my brother used to get "fishing fever" quite regularly, as well. Thanks for the drop-by.
