I’LL NEVER NOT LOVE YOU

The air was filled with expectancy, my mood mellow and sultry, The sun had just sunk Into a golden horizon, and a shy full moon, was rising into the twilight. I skipped on and over the stepping stones as if I was catching up with a magical presence, a presence that would alter the course of my life. A soft breeze caressed my face and a salty taste rested upon my lips. The roar of waves smashing against the rocks by the cliff leading to the harbor, tantalizingly beckoned me. The yachts tied to the pier swayed in the choppy sea, and the sky had changed to a cloudy blemished grey, from a brilliant blue sky, with a bold sizzling sun . A determined storm was brewing and the turbulent waves became menacingly high. I was between the devil and the deep blue sea. Turning back would be a mistake, going forward would be suicidal. Oh gosh, what should I do? A strong male voice interrupted my feeling of trepidation. You seem to be in a spot he said, here take my hand. He bent over the yacht and with superman strength, scooped me up into Dazed but thankful, I stood up and put out my hand to thank him. No need he said, I remember you from New Year Eve last week, the most beautiful belle at the ball, and you left something behind. He disappeared below deck and within seconds was back with the half-moon gold ear-ring I had lost. You vanished so quickly he said, I neither got your name or phone number. I’m Edward he said and you are? Emily I replied. My handsome saviour was tall, bronzed, and sported a trim beard, he had the most amazing dark brown eyes in which I drowned several times that evening. The masquerading storm of pyrotechnic intensity and terrifying thunder passed us, moving to another place and space. The dull grey, cloudy sky bowed its goodbyes, and so it all began. We drank wine and ate caviar on salted biscuits, whilst letting each other know more about one another, deep into an evening which needed no artificial light, as the moon and stars did all that for us. Edward walked me back to my hotel, and to my delight casually took and held my hand. Our Summer romance was a fairy tale story come true. I kept extending my leave until I got dangerously close to being fired. The passion, the ecstasy, the adventure of it all was unparalleled to whatever I thought was love or romance before. Edward lived in the Cape Province, in a town called Hermanus and I, in Bedforview, Johannesburg. We spent a year traveling between the two Provinces until, exactly a year to the date after we had met, Edward phoned and said he was coming up to Johannesburg. He had something important to ask me. I could not contain my excitement. I picked him up from Oliver Tambo International Airport . He was chatty and loving, but did not let on, what it was, he wanted to ask me. We had barely stepped into my apartment when he took me in his arms. We undressed each other in seconds, he picked me up and carried me to the bedroom. Our lovemaking was as erotic as the mysterious milky way shimmers and shines, as though the eternal galaxy was at play, and angelic harps summonsed, to strum love songs to us. A new moon shone just enough, among brilliant diamond shaped stars, to reflect our love to the universe. Exhausted and spent, we laid back – I was about to get up to pour us a glass of wine, but Edward stopped me. My sweet darling, will you marry me, as once again he enfolded me into his strong arms within which I felt, I always belonged. Yes, I replied, yes, yes and yes. Six months later we were married with 120 of our close friends and relations who were witness, to two people very much in love, taking their vows. Dearest Jenny, your story is a breathtaking journey of romance that sweeps the reader off their feet, much like Emily was swept into Edward's strong arms. The way you paint the atmosphere—salty breezes, roaring waves, moonlit nights—is simply magical, setting the stage for a love that feels destined. Their connection, from that first fateful rescue to the ethereal proposal, is woven with such tenderness and passion that it’s impossible not to root for them. It's a beautiful reminder that sometimes, life’s most unexpected storms can lead us exactly where we are meant to be—into the arms of true love. Absolutely enchanting!...Love and hugs

Jennifer, the story is fun to read. Any distractions I was suffering disappeared within a few seconds of beginning to read what you wrote, and that is a sign of good writing. That makes me smile, of course. Plus reading the comments is fun to. People have all kinds of questions...is it true is it made up? You answer everyone so honestly and matter of fact. A real and unexpected pleasure for me today. TY!!

Oh so romantic in so many ways and I very much enjoyed reading your words. This love story had all the makings of a fairytale ending: they were married. Jennifer embodies love, passion, and romance when she is in love. His proposal proved that their love wasn't a passing romance but a lifelong vow of undying devotion. What a fantastic thing! Wonderfully evokes the feeling of discovering love and proposing to spend eternity with the protagonist. Jennifer, this is one of my favorites since it felt so genuine.

Hi Lasaad, What an awesome comment, thank-you and what I love about it is the reason you faved it. I write straight from my heart and soul my friend, as do you. Lifelong devotion is I fear, on its way out in our fast paced world. A small disagreement can be blown out of proportion, and divorce is an all too easy solution which leads to heartache for one or the other part ner, and sometimes for both. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and keep writing your terrific, talented poetry Lasaad. Blessings, Jennifer

Such a romantic incident full of passion, love and an ending that was played out perfectly to be married. Being in love personifies this Jennifer as what love romance, and passion is. The ending was falling in love and is proven by his proposal it wasn't just a fling but a long life commitment of togetherness. How great is that? Wonderfully written making the reader reminisce when finding true love and asking to spend eternity together. This one is a favorite Jennifer it seemed so real. Michael
