I start this year with something that was not mine

My Thursday Morning Prayer

The words have been the poem,
and a good poem should fill you
It can offer consolation and comfort in your time of need
Lift your pens, you upcoming poets,
 Write to, your heart contents
let your words, be a conversation topic,
be the closing of the graduation speech,
 because rhythmic language thrives,
please! allow the poems to speak for themselves.

I have started this year with something that wasn’t mine
Forgiveness will be mine, in due time
A selfish crab got what he deserved
Something short of happiness,

What a surprising merger for a starter!
some guilty pleasures can ruin lives

I will cease these feelings, I will adhere to
To this new me:
I will continue to buy myself flowers
No more crying in the rain for me.
My tear drops will cease, no more cheating.
