I Am More Than Just a Tree
I woke up this morning with no intended plan
I had no clue as to where I will go next,
But I felt bold and strong like superman
I am tired of the East and I am weary of the west
But I am still a tree and I have to do my best.
I am more than just a palm tree planted on the side of the street
I am more than just a palm tree with damage roots and dry hanging leaves
I am more than just a palm tree that has survive the drought, the shout and the blackout
I am not just a tree with a trunk, branches and crotches
I am a tree with strong roots anchored in the ground and I know that you are around
Here I am staring out my hotel window looking at myself with thick long branches, big trunks, and leaves that covers the ground
I am rising, and spreading myself over the world bearing fruits with succulent juice
Tall building waving in the sky bearing the weight of yesterday
They too have a story that is painted in glory
It is the season when everything comes with a special reason
Restaurants and shop leaning on the corners,
just waking up from the Monday morning mass
Long line of traffic flowing in the street, and here I am behind the musky curtain looking out at thee
I am more than just a tree with leaves and roots
I am a tree with a message and every day I have to commute
Oh the silver car is back again and the four doors are open
I wonder what message they are trying to send
I closed the curtain and peeped through and the woman in black was mimicked something while looking in the car I could not read what she was communicating
Was she trying to tell me something?
Or was she airing out the car?
I could not understand if she was telling me to come,
Maybe she was saying that something is done
Or someone wants to talk with me privately
Oh she could be saying that someone is leaving
Or was it that someone has been set free,
Only if I could understand what is brewing
Although I find it quite amusing
After all I am just a tree standing on my moral ground
and I don’t know where I am bound
I am more than just a tree with overgrown roots
I am still standing tall and looking cute
All types of birds find refuge in me
Because I always make them feel happy
They sing, they dance and I entertain them
Birds flying from nest to nest looking for a perfect place to rest
so they come to me
I am more than just a tree that entertain the crowd
Every day I listen to their stories and share their worries
The unfaithful husband romancing with hotel strippers
And cheeky Politician's slandering their opponent at restaurant dinners
I am just a tree that has stood up to the test of time
And I am going to claim what is mine
I am a tree with strong roots that does not pollute
I am planted here but my roots runs everywhere
So you better beware,
I am only a tree
