Divide By Zero

Without caught exception, a zero divisor, with no one the wiser, deception undetected; divide by zero's end result: wrecked id. Uncaught, adding insult: naught. Without caught exception, divide by zero's end result: naught. ---------- for the Let's Minichu on zero Poetry Contest sponsored by Mohan Chutani written on 04/09/2022
If a program has an id, it is its hidden memories, which are lost when the program crashes, which is hard on the programmer's ego. Of course it has an id-entifier as well. As my daughter would say, "clever, but not funny, dad."

Excellent reflection on the zero, Jeff. Everything multiplied by zero is zero. Is everything divided by zero zero, too? I don't think so. If I have four apples and I divide them by zero, I still have my four apples! Right? Actually, I think the same is true of multiplying by zero, which we're talking about apples!

Jeff, my worst subject in school (period) was math, arithmetic or whatever it is called today. Your explanation below left me in Bribane!

Computers, even Apples, don’t handle divide by zero well. If you had 2 people, they’d each get 2. But if 4 apples is only ½ of a person’s cut, you need 8 apples. At 1/200th of a person’s cut, you need 800 apples. So as that number gets smaller, you need more and more apples. At zero, the computer says that’s undefined and blows up.
