Dilemma of Love and Selfishness

DILEMMA OF LOVE AND SELFISHNESS

                       DR RANJIT DUTTA

There is a conflict
In evey moment
without knowing,
There is a conflict
 In everyone's heart
Without thinking.
My mother said--
Love is gracious,
Love fastens
Everyone forever.
Poet says-
The earth moves on love
Three worlds rapt on love,
Love is life,
Love is death.
Father said my mother-
Leave those silly thoughts,
It's nothing
But a cryptic frail.
Love is
An ellusive shell,
Covers improbity softly,
A dream and reality
Of ephemeral life
decorated with affinity.
Hit the drum of selfishness
See how it turns it's shape,
But even today
I don't know
What's love meant for?
I peep inside
Down my memory lane and
Sitting alone in loneliness,
I ask my self
What are relationships?
My lover ask me-
Isn't love an assimilation
Of enjoyment and selfishness?
I enquired myself
What is love?
Love is for what?
It is an attraction, or a romantic frill
Or an emotional weakness
Swimming in the river of
enjoyment and self-interest?
I don't know,
May be you too.
I don't know
Even someone
knows it or not!
Only I feel
All 're swimming
In the same river
without knowing
without speculating.
