Die Ferne Ist Zerbrechlich / the Distance Is Fragile

The distance is fragile like an abandoned star in an soulless universe. I am calm in the snow, in the heights of steep mountains of iron and crystal, and with an open heart. The whisper of falling tears on snow is lost in the distance. A forceful and noisy wind is leading my day-dreams. Hearts of dust and ice are painting a pale picture in dispersed colours. Sometimes it is only our memory, bringing us peace and desire.

This is beautiful, Gert. Once again Ingrid read the German to me so I could hear your poem in both languages. Ingrid reads so well that I can feel the beauty even though I do understand German (yet...) The English version is captivating and definitely pulls the heart strings. I pray that your future will bring as much peace and desire as your past memories and will fill your heart with joy and happiness. (I have some of my paintings on Facebook, too. I'll check. Did you send an invite? Dane

Hi Gert This is one beautiful poem written straight from your heart. The visual in this is amazing. Wow! I just realized too that you have written poetry in three different languages. That alone just boggles my mind. I too feel like Carol does Gert, we are lucky to have you amongst our poetry soup family. Thanks for sharing. Take care, Love Light Truth Patty

I can clearly see how beeing in the mountains would bring us serenity, even at times when we feel like "abandoned stars. Excellent use of imagery, Gert. And keep your beautiful heart open! My late father would have been able to read the German version. Unfortunately, I only absorbed a few words of German but it is an amazing translation! Love, Carolyn

This is beautiful, Gert. Did you also write the German version? It makes me want to be able to speak German. I'm going to have Ingrid read it to me out loud so I can feel the flow of your words in the German version. Thank you for sharing. Me gusto mucho! Lovingly, Dane
