Bondage
BONDAGE
In bondage to the devil, to our lust and sin,
We became by birthright, evil dwelt within.
Chains he wrapped around us, seethed us in his pot
Till we found we’re helpless, good we could do not.
Then we heard of Jesus and His victory
Over Satan’s bondage on Mount Calvary.
We became unshackled when we claimed the blood;
He came in to help us do what’s right and good.
In bondage now to Jesus we can be set free,
Free to do what’s righteous, not in slavery
To sin’s laws or habits, and its burning lust;
Now we can resist it and do what is just.
We can claim the victory over sin and shame
For we have that power now through Jesus’ name.
We are bound to someone; is it Christ the Lord?
Do we live in victory through His precious word?
Or do we keep living in our past and shame,
In bondage by our failures, full of self we blame?
If we come to Jesus, simply realize
What He came to give us when He bled and died,
And live in that victory, dead to self and sin,
We will find great victory and a peace within.
