Beam On Me
I never knew who wrote them, but some of the words of a song I often heard at church many years ago still come to mind:
"Life is so uncertain. There are pitfalls that get in your way. But there is an answer."
Those words have followed me most of my life, but if my 'life flashed before my eyes', I don't think that it's the pitfalls that I would see. Rather, there would be a few things glowing.
In Chicago,
My YOUNG LIFE was spared in an armed robbery. The day I met, and the day I married my lovely BRIDE.
In Wisconsin,
I learned the gravity of my own IMMATURITY. The feel of FATHERHOOD with my first child.
In Mississippi,
The day I entered the home of a HORDER to help him. The day I helped provide food for a POOR MAN eating dog food.
In San Francisco,
I helped to spare a BABY from abortion. By my own admission, I FOUND MY HEART there.
In Sacramento,
I hastily rescued a SPARROW from certain death. I began to live and live-out my passion of WRITING.
