3:10 to Yuma - 1957 Version Summary

Surviving in this kind of weather, with a man made from chicken feather causes me to sometimes wonder, "Why does that dang fool hear thunder?" I think we'd be better off instead if that guy would come home dead.

I simply cannot resist this rather 'irregular' -- 'unorthodox, I might say -- comment, as I immediately thought of it when I scanned the title of your poem: 'Yuma' is (also) the name of a Talmudic tractate. It means 'Day' in Aramaic, and refers to 'Yom Kippur,' the Day of Atonement, in Hebrew... To reference a passage in the Talmud, 3:10 indicates the chapter and then the verse... Congratulations on your ordination as a Rabbi, David! Then again, given Israel's troubles, sorry... LOL, Gershon

Wow! I did all that without knowing! I enjoyed the DVD I watched the other day, and I ended up writing another ridiculous, flippant poem, but another thing popped into my mind. A lot of my relatives on my Dad's side live in Yuma, and my grandfather, who always wore a cowboy hat, was orphaned and lived in a ranch near there. He became a painter and painted dessert landscapes that look like that area. Well...I guess that's TMI!
