Ecstasy and Hell
In the seventies, I had finished school, entered my twenties, and was feeling cool. And rock and roll rattled me to my bones, from Led Zeppelin to the Rolling Stones. Life felt good; I was young, eager, and wild, a wannabe hippy and a love child. And I smoked reefers and challenged the law, sometimes I'd lose, but I'd call it a draw. Nixon was losing the Vietnam War, shouting he was no crook, or so he swore. And the college students marching for rights were beaten by cops instigating fights. The seventies were a time of turmoil; we were told the world's running out of oil. I recall the seventies all too well, a decade of both ecstasy and hell.
