Not a Hero
NOT A HERO A crimson cape of solid color, with a sordid lupine history. A young lass stood out — in a forest, decked in browns and grassy greens. He appeared in a long fur coat, a handsome and charming guy, a fearsome stranger. He moved so fast, she’d ne’er seen him move. Alongside her, she felt his breath on her neck and whispering in her ear, “Where are you headed, my dear?” “Never you mind…” she whispered back. Very cunning, his teeth like pearly tombstones, “Tell me, how did you come by this hooded cape?” “It makes your eyes light up, and I could, just eat you up…” He turned her so she would face him. She stepped on his toes, and moving ne’er slow, dashed behind the thickest tree, as she heard him howling. From secret pockets, stowed in the recesses of her cape, she pulled out her brand new bow and arrows. Once again, his paws leaned against her tree, “What do you intend, little girl…” “Oh what big eyes you have. I’m sure you have it figured out — your dead! And what big ears that hear what I’ve said!” “What about my polished teeth, my sweet? Can we not complete this tale of yours? I want YOU for dinner!” ...before the stranger could leap, he was surrounded by the three little pigs, giving the lass time to react. The arrow pierced his furry side , “Sorry to ruin your classy coat but you left me no way out.” Not a hero, she’d consider having chops or hocks of ham for her next dinner. 2/22/2018
