Marbles
Marbles The reds, the blues, yellows and greens Some dark, some light, no ‘semblage of means A simple man, with simple dreams A hardened heart with softened pleas As I think too much, and mumble about I worry aloud as the echo’s scream Inside of my head, the chaos of crowds But this lonely man; he will slowly bleed. As the gavels fall, loud cracks on my left Twelve judges prevail, to condemn, this man For innocent crimes of selfish-less theft The jury mob shouts, “He CAN’T understand!” Some orange, purple, grayish and black These words, and thoughts, giving me flack With funneled mind, I’m jammed at neck I can’t express, my introspect ORDER, ORDER, I FIND you in CONTEMPT! The bench used to be, where one judge prevails But now the accused, displayed, for their shame False accusations, a narcissist wailed “HE STOLE, WHAT I TOOK”, found guilty, as framed As I tried to speak, they told me I’m wrong I tried to explain; “why haven’t you LEARNED” A tingling burn, increasing, now strONG I silenced myself, and wait…. for my turn The brown, turquoise, marbles of thought, Each color, a mood, a feeling of aught, Ideas I have, understanding what’s naught, All stuck in my head…. First black, then red, burnt orange and gray This woman, holds me, she says it’s okay She listens to me, in her arms, I cry The blue sky, and sunshine…. Ooh, the green of your eyes…. I’ve, missed you…. © 2018 Jeffrey Spencer
