Twas Summer Morn
Twas summer morn when I was born and gave a lusty cry my small hand curled round Mamas finger as I gazed into her eyes Twas summer morn when I was quite young and noticed that all was not right the news was gradually getting worse and tension at home where there were fights Twas summer morn when I longed for school and the Vietnam war to finally end my mind done with test and finals as I cruised round the bends Twas summer morn I sang a song of finding work and love my arms embraced your masculine waist as we cooed like two love doves Twas summer morn we said our vows and pledged our love to one another slipping rings on our fingers soon after I became a mother Twas summer morn I had two sons who frolicked and loved to play my hands clasping both of theirs in the sun and the shade Twas summer morn something horribly wrong when America was under attack as I picked you both up from school memory of you crying in the back Twas summer morn the nights were long although the days and years flew by life at times took its toll you could see it in our eyes Twas summer morn cancer came along and your Grandpa was soon gone then three years afterward Grandma's death we all mourned Twas summer morn I woke up to a quiet empty nest both sons had grown and were gone my mind worried nonetheless Twas summer morn your Dad now gone you'd visit once in awhile and when you did I'd hug you all till we were all smiles Twas summer morn just after dawn I passed away in my hospital bed all whispered a tearful good bye to me as you kissed my cold forehead Twas summer morn you both came and placed flowers on our graves having grown kids of your own now you both put on a brave face Twas summer morn in our Heavenly home no more nights or fears, just sunny days reunited we all hugged and cried tears of joy as Jesus looked on with His loving face 2-4-17
