Love, Me
I am a disaster waiting to happen. Not one of those beautiful messes everyone talks about, but a hurricane raging off the coast of Nowhere. The kind that nobody really notices until it’s too late. And sometimes people tell me that I’m strong and beautiful but guess what? So are hailstorms until they shatter stained glass windows. And believe me, eventually, I will break everything. There’s going to come a day when you realize that I am something no one wants anything to do with. You’ll push me away just like everyone else. And you’ll tell me it’s not my fault. But I’ve heard that line one too many times. And I won’t believe you. It’s always my fault. But don’t worry about me, I’m used to this type of pain. Which sucks because no one should ever feel this way, but it happens all too often and suddenly my bones are being ground into dust and there are rivers flowing down my hollowed cheeks. Sooner or later I’m going to end up with broken heartstrings and shattered dreams. But who cares? I’m not the girl you’d spend all night thinking about just to fall asleep wishing you could kiss her petal pink lips. I am just me. And I am not someone that you want to take home to meet Mom and Dad. Because I am not someone that anyone loves.
