My Child
My Child, One day you’ll kneel before my throne, a crown you’ll hope you’ve won. You’ll hear me ask this question: “What acts for me were done?” Did you see me as I trembled, cold, and asked for warmth and food? Or did you blindly pass me by, as pleadingly I stood? Did you, with pride, judge harshly, how another lived and dressed? Did you say, “The fault was his that he was not so blessed? Did you share the gospel; how to be sin free? Or did you just walk away, pretending not to see? Did you think it waste to share your time with others such as this? Did you think them too unworthy, and turn away amiss? Did you fail to see their needs, or hear their weary sighs? Even though, I the Lord, listens to each man’s cries? Oh Child, don’t you see the lonely beggar, knocking at your door? Serve fully now, with graceful love, before this life is o’er. Then, if you see your brother’s needs, one day I‘ll say to you; “Well done. You know me well, because you saw me too.”
