Shikimoo Lady Liberty
I stare silently at her overwhelming size, Sweet Lady Liberty her stern beautiful fierce eyes, I yearn for the American Dream, I must remain humble, For things are never what they seem How could one so tall, metallic-strong, and so dearly rigid in her ways Hear my cries for equality in such fierce crashing waves After all she’s a Jersey girl seems to be forgiving in such ways Didn’t the Bronze Queen ask about the tired and the poor... Does she not ask about us anymore? She “pleaded” for the huddled mass that were struggling to breathe… Did she mean those “us” who felt stuck from wage slavery? I've been hungry and “homeless” at your Golden Door! I've been storm-tossed (Tempest-tost), troubled, and often felt ignored But somehow you found a way to feed me when I was destitute and my spirit was poor. Even though Poverty has made it difficult for me to breathe It has made my “Job-training” and skills so varied it has given me much more hire-ability I've been so tired, I can hardly dream I wish I could attain a decent health plan That so many desperately need... I wipe my tears as I try to be discreet As I symbolically kiss the Statue of Liberty’s feet The American Dream seems so fickle like the tides It just means it might be much more difficult For us to catch, than we might realize! I slowly pick up my downtrodden feet I slowly Look at your symbolism of Peace and Liberty Freedom is a state of mind, which cannot be taken, Either from you or me! I kiss your feet for Freedom Sweet Lady Liberty! Thanks for the Hope The Hope to remain Free...
