Raindrops Keep Falling From My Head
I am a stormcloud Eternally roaming yet visibly stationary Loud and proud, yet intangible And raindrops keep falling from my head People accept me for what I bring That I am not a permanent fixture But something that'll keep their fields from drying And raindrops keep falling from my head The only shaman who defended my existence Swung their rope and arms around me Tethered to the earth and strongly beloved Yet raindrops keep falling from my head And we both pray our futile prayer That I can roar eternally into the night Never casting away that which clearly bound us Yet raindrops keep falling from my head Ever colder, exposed to the light I pull away from the mirror A thousand black strands lining my sink As raindrops that fell from my head Exposing the flesh beneath A curiosity I've kept hidden for years Yet cursed by my family name and gender Raindrops keep falling from my head And I asked that shaman long ago "Will you still love me when it's gone?" And they replied as I hoped, that it was eternal Yet raindrops keep falling from my head Now that shaman pulls away As my flesh is revealed and my sink is buried in black I was a fool to believe I could ever be loved If raindrops kept falling from my head
