When I'M Gone
Sitting in silence Pretty much completely awkward Looking around what seems to be an unfamiliar room Finally you caught my gaze Our eyes met Innocent you could have said You bit your bottom lip In the back of my mind all innocence had then disappeared I remembered what you said about that, it was supposed to be a hint I chose to totally ignore it I rolled my eyes and left your stare You let out your breath with a loud gasp And then met my eyes again To be honest, you looked disappointed I mumbled, "I'm sorry..." You didn't respond My mind flashed with images of the previous night, so close, under the sheets, hands tightly together started talking, switched to sharing what we had always wanted Breathing heavy, proving this is true love, then all was quiet. My memory halted, and my conscious mind returned. We were still sitting, staring, thinking. You weren't looking at me anymore Then you spoke, "You shouldn't be sorry, don't say that." I kept thinking, I know I apologize for things I can't change. It seems stupid, but it shows you that I wish I could change them for you. This is the one situation, I can't change, but would give anything to have the chance. My thoughts steadied, and I was watching you. You eyes were right there with mine And tears were welling up in them, both of us shaking We moved closer to each other I kissed you on the forehead That small innocent smirk you love appeared on my face I glanced up at you, just as the tears began rolling down your face I kissed you softly And at that moment we both realized, In a year things wouldn't change... though I would be gone.
