Yesterday's Tears
Sleeping in a bed replete with wilted flowers Part of a bouquet of shanties and lofty towers The air hangs heavy with past's fears I slowly drown in a pool of yesterday's tears Riding through the storm of life with a hope filled heart Never did I imagine that one day I would part With love, and all emotions that radiate joy My heart, now, lying in a corner like a discarded toy Fighting daily battles with my mind's demons Trying to make sense of life's intermingling ions When even the soft hand of love feels like a viper's coil Feelings shuttling between uncertainty and turmoil Passing time turns around and does smile Asking what I gained for having gone the extra mile All that's there to show is, my heart pierced with spears, Yesterday's flowers and yesterday's tears
