Cornucopia
Pumpkin patches and candied apples at the corn maze in the city, a little boy dressed as a vampire and my daughter a princess so pretty- Haunted houses and ghosts and goblins out for a night of fright, HALLOWEEN has come again on this harvest moon filled night. Then arrives the day of giving thanks for family to share. Memories of grandma’s homemade pumpkin pie unravel in my mind and I am taken back to when I was just a child. Sitting around the dinner table set for twenty; saying a prayer of gratitude for all of the good health and happiness we have been given. Grandpapa held my hand as I listened to him speak of family and his love for the Lord. Those were the days. It wasn’t until I got older that I realized how special those THANKSGIVING dinners were to me. This year we will sit at a table for eighteen as grandma and grandpapa are resting peacefully above. Even though they will not be with us, I still hold onto all the wonderful memories I had growing up. day of giving thanks loved ones gone, not forgotten grateful to be loved Christmas Eve we celebrate the coming of Jesus Christ’s birth, a night walking through the live nativity at our Church downtown- It’s the time of year when we should be filled with joy and self-worth, I hear the melodies of Silent Night; the choir is definitely renown. I embrace the night of angels flying and in its magic, I drown, then CHRISTMAS Day arrives and it seems I know no stranger- for on this day born Jesus Christ, a baby resting in a manger.
