Scars
A blade of grass blows out of time, an easy mind no longer mine, Through eyes a view now monochrome, the colour draining from this home. The clouds that pass turn into beasts I close my eyes to make it cease, But laughter resonates within, From demons underneath my skin. The sunlight streaming through the glass, Lights up the horrors of my past, The chains from which i can’t escape, To trust in love was my mistake. Daffodils nod and they agree, They’re questioning my sanity, But they can’t see the scars inside, This wretched torment that i hide. For every scar it tells a tale, betraying me each time i fail. Reminding me that i’ve no worth, A cruel taunt i’ve been told since birth. A childhood lost from cruel abuse, Instilled me in this mental noose. A system broke, it’s answer pills The victims lose, depression kills.
