Pieces
My soul was like a puzzle When I was a little girl I had a piece of everything ... The beauty of the world A colorful mosaic Made for everyone to see For me to take into the world And see what I would be I took a piece of poetry To hide it from my friends, ...and then a piece of silliness, But that’s not where it ends I had a piece of music That I used to love to play. The people liked a different tune ... I let it slip away And as I traveled down the road I left them here, or there I let some people take them, ... And I didn't really care But one day when I sat to rest, I noticed they were gone I left behind the colors, And the laughter, and the song So I went back to look for them, But only found a few My pieces didn't fit The way they did, when they were new. Some pieces were still missing And I’d never get them back. Some pieces torn and tattered, ... So; I put them in a sack. And now I hold my pieces close, I use them everyday I hope to someday fix them, ... And then put them all away.
