Aiye
?????????????aiyé a child seeks voyage in the current of fame, he does not homage the sun, he does not sing the moon her eulogies, he will wet and weaken his dreams with the red molecules of fire-- a dark cheMISERY! he has sojourned a thousand nights in light; and a thousand days in darkness, and he has swallowed a thousand cowries of guts, but he does not know that the beam of life has more than a black and white. aiyé àkámorà, may you not thrust your vast staff between the laps of his reality, for he is a metropolis of narrow paths. and he may scream and deafen his mother, and his father may pray to a being he does not revere. may you hold your rain, so a snake of seven colours may not crawl upon his sky and race his arteries with steroids of limpness. for a child fears when he meets the gods where they dine on worms and wine in human skulls. may the earth not lust after his chubby skin so he may not return young, cold and gory, for he may curse his Mary and bless his Pilate and cause the potent chandelier of heaven to quiver in quakes of sympathy. may his white pigeon not be held by the black wings of old witches, and by the blunt traffic of enraged eagles, for his father will bane his morale and taunt his morals, and cast him out, to finding home-- a redeeming search. - only he, who has not axed the boulder of life will not seek rest from the author, and finisher of fate. - only he, who has not been broken will not seek mud from his potter. - only a man who aiyé has not shown their bare mickle and mighty buttocks will not seek embrace in the arms of the Almighty.
