DRESSING DEATH Snapshot of a corpse ~ head unnaturally leans into the glass death is not kind, though dressed up, with makeup, scented flowers a woman decorated in autumn foliage holding rosary beads ~ more like a doll than real in a warm room with kith and kin. stains of death remain on cheeks a twenty something man dressed in green sunday suit ~ his hand is deathly cold sleeves, shoulders. black dresses and suits sully the noisy river a teenager without her horse and glasses ~ how will she ride? how will she see? she followed a classmate to the grave sleeves, shoulders. black dresses and suits sully the noisy river leukemia claimed a neighbor who rode the yellow bus the quiet remorseful corners. can you hear the breaking off of hearts? a little girl with pretty hair dressed in brown asleep in a girly-pink satin-lined box they weigh down the coffins ~ pinning them six feet under lady who trimmed ten years from her life, while standing on two feet ~ sweats ninety inside a closed box twins shooed off, to visit dead neighbors, at the funeral parlor 8/4/2017
