Christmas Thoughs
CHRISTMAS THOUGHTS At Christmas time our thoughts oft turn to giving of a gift; From the real meaning of this day we often tend to drift. The placing of a manger scene upon a public square Is looked upon with great disdain by some who see it there. And yet a Santa or his sleigh, his reindeer, or his elves Are all allowed in every store with gifts on all the shelves. Have we forgotten that this day is one of a great Gift? Have we allowed our thoughts to roam and to these others shift? Are we today like long ago just saying there’s no room? When will we come back to that Gift, and if we will, how soon? No room, we say, this time of year for this great story true, But yet there’s room for other things that have nothing to do With why this day is here at all and why we celebrate, But if we would come back to it, it still is not too late. We still can turn time back again to our forefathers’ days When Christmas was a time to sing the coming Savior’s praise, A time when you could hear a prayer, a song in every school, A time when people read the words, and believing was the rule. Yes, it is not too late just yet to go back to the day When Christmas time was time for God and time to sing and pray And time to recall once again the reason why He came, Not to give us Santa and His elves, but to redeem us from sin’s shame.
