Home Sweet Home
Home sweet home, my blue home - Prettiest, loveliest, awesome; Hither and thither search ye, Can like Earth another Home be? Rocking rivers, mighty mounts, Roaring seas with dark mysteries bound, Misty valleys, dusty deserts, Lightning and thunder – ‘power twins’, they assert. Green trees towering tall and short, Enriching the eyes and heart Soothing the soul with bright, fragrant flowers, Home for birds, fruits for power. Flying-singers, making melody sweet, Flapping their wings, the dawn they greet; Colorful butterflies’ fluttering-fair In the golden rays fill joy in the air. Golden shiny sun at noon And to guard the night, the moon And the silvery stars at night Give an awesome treat to sight. Majestic beasts that mark their domain, Gentle herds within their reign, Some with wit their existence feign, All under the canopy of nature remain. But now, the rivers that once rocked Are effluent poisoned and with garbage blocked; The streams that encountered valleys and farms Now encounters suffocating plastic swarms. The once rain-fed lusty green fields Have now grown frail to give healthy yield As every now and then they’re drained In fertilizers’ and pesticides’ chemical rain. The breeze that slipped sweet song in our ears, Is intoxicated with smoke that brings tears; Each one with his vehicle had done His part of adding to air, pollutants. Alas! Friend, don’t forget, Be cautious, I surely bet, Hither and thither search ye, Like Earth another Home can’t be!
