Crossing
Africa is aching For its problems are aging Here is the thing Our social ills are adding Because no one is acting Hence we see an African child crossing Crossing for they can’t stand starvation Crossing because of wars and political instability Crossing for they seek greener pastures Yet Africa is richest in mineral resources The world is the witness to that It pains me to see my fellow man die They drown and become food for sea animals Crocodiles don’t have to hunt anymore Because fellow Africans are bound to cross Running away from their countries to save their souls Those who master the art of crossing And get to the other side of the Promised Land Still faces bigger crocodiles and drowning Women and young girls descends in brothels Where their freedom becomes a fairytale And soon they drown in feelings of despair Those who master the art of crossing And get to the other side of the Promised Land Still faces bigger crocodiles Xenophobia is among the deadliest crocodiles Many have died all around the world Lately I’m scared to pride myself as South African Because our soil is wet of the innocent blood of immigrants They died because they’ve mastered the art of crossing
