The Day My Mother Died
My Mother started taking pills Believing it would cure all her ills But instead of harmony, she became a pharmacy My world turned upside side down, no more normalcy She became someone who I didn't know This isn't the person who helped me grow She claimed schizophrenia, all I saw was mania With all her monsters, our home became Transylvania I'd lock my bedroom door at night Fall asleep full of fright Thinking she just might, kill me in her plight I talked to her doctor, was told to go away The police were no help, man this cray Unless she actually caused harm, they would not raise the alarm But for me and my brothers our home was a farm Tried to get her committed, but was met with resistance No matter how loud I voiced my persistence She'd disappear in the night, wondering what went wrong How many times do we have to scream out the same old song MOM, WHERE ARE YOU? I think she's lost in the forest Where's the woman who was always there for us All these years later, all the tears they have dried Though she's alive, I live as if it was the day Mother died.
