Love Sat Alone
Outside a café of a busy boulevard, she sat sipping her orange pekoe tea And I looked at her intently, trying to gauge her mood She had a faraway, dreamy look in her eyes I felt she was looking at someone, someone who should've been there ... sitting with her in that empty chair And she turned her head towards me, as if she heard my thoughts, what I was thinking of her right then This honey-skinned lady, with beautiful dichromatic eyes, gave me a warm and inviting smile Her enchanting eyes made me feel welcome to come and sit with her Just facing her ... gazing into her rainbow eyes One eye was brownish-gray, the other greenish-blue But the color of her heart was of another hue It was golden, I do believe, and it was shining inside of me We exchanged pleasantries, but she always kept a regal refrain I asked her was she expecting someone who never came, she said yes and no Then with quiet joy she spoke: last night I dreamed of meeting someone in the dawn of day, someone at this café He would have a gentle face, but I would know him by his voice And I heard your voice before you ever spoke When you looked at me, and said in your heart: love sat alone Such kindred spirits we are, for I said the same of you from afar
