Thank You
Thank You! For showing me the world is cruel, evil, to be cautious, suspecting, untrusting, and doubt other peoples intentions; when I needed to feel safe. For causing insurmountable pain, nightmares, psychological instability, and permanent emotional scars; when I needed comfort. For not telling me you love me, I am beautiful, and that I can become anything I dream of; when I needed self confidence. For feeding me to the ravenous lions, turning a blind eye, allowing abuse, and neglecting my needs; when I needed your protection. For not saying you are sorry, crying with me, embracing me or praying with me; when I needed your compassion. For abandoning me, missing birthdays, standing me up, and not fighting for me; when I needed security. For not believing me, making a mockery of me, and turning others against me; when I needed your trust. For always putting a man first, dependence, insecurity, and fear of being alone; when I needed a teacher. For never being there, praising me, encouraging me, advising me, scolding me, or loving me unconditionally; when I needed a mother. I say Thank You because you gave me a priceless Gift. Having a daughter of my own, I can always look back at this and appreciate the sacrifices that I have made so that she will never understand the meaning of "mom" the same way I did. Thank you for teaching me what NOT to be.
