On Seeing An April Dawn
When reason returned to me this April dawn, my half opened eyes, watched the new day born. First feeble rays banished the darkness hence; aroused the sleeping, and bade all to commence upon pleasures planned for this new Spring day. Fully awakened, with minutes fast slipping away, I watched the rising mist, drift from the meadows to seek refuge under still darkened hedgerows, Away from the touch of the strengthening sun, firmly set on its designated daily run. Overnight Spring has arrived. So it would appear: heralding the long delayed start to the year! Does it promise fulfilment hopefully expected, or will we be disillusioned, and Spring rejected? For Winter is stubborn, and loth to depart. Plans could be dashed, should this prove a false start! But I feel confident today will see the end of Winter. For it’s high time we embraced a friend. Once affirmed, and with such determination seen, chastened, Winter will leave: his demise foreseen! Privileged for having seen April’s dawn display, I slowly rise, to greet the fast awakening day. Such moments allowed me for quiet contemplation, bring me composure, peace and poetic inspiration Rhymer. April 2nd, 2017
