David
I’m a fool, hiding in the caverns of your skin This love’s diary now lost, written in the inks of sin Since you left me, there’s no way back My nerves of steel have begun to crack When you would lean in for a tender kiss How I dream to return to that solitary bliss I wipe my tears but the thought will still remain The canopy has opened, and for that let it rain As the water pours gently down my skin The remains of you, swirling in an insipid spin You destroyed me in an intimate fate Kept me captive in a spine tingling state Rough edges of the words you spoke Pierced me with every word you wrote I would let your lips clean up this blood Let the dam crumble, bringing on this flood Each day I sink deeper into this dark sleep So I say open the gates and let them reap Your memory is carved into the mist as the sun rises I’m fighting to remember what your love surmises So when I walk into the sunset and begin to forget I’ll trace it in my eyelids for when it’s to set You taught me your tenderness, let your eyes caress mine This melody of passion, you were my partner in rhyme The thought of you is still hanging in each sorry note A flicker of my eyelids is all that keeps my brain afloat As I try forget when our lips used to entwine That I am yours, but I forgot you are no longer mine.
