Recesses of the Mind
Immersed in absolute darkness; a fuzzy warm darkness. Suspended in aqueous space, turning, testing its confines- in control. Muffled sounds, comforting sounds- rhythmic pulsations, strange murmurings-cozy, safe, content. Suddenly, forced movement, unbearable pressure- rude jabbing lights, blinding lights, painful lights, and shapes moving beyond the lights-sinister shapes- veiled in green and white. Now upside down, reaching out, touching nothing. No control- snatched from tranquility- now fear and pain. Wet is no longer fuzzy warm, but cold, so very cold. Harshness greets arrival- a cacophony of new sounds, not comforting, but loud and shrill- coming from within. a crescendo of emotions- resentment, anger, rage. Will these ever pass, or forever be remembered in the recesses of the mind- to someday erupt in violence against those of like kind- the sinister shapes beyond the lights; the perpetrators?
