On the Edge of My Seat
I sat in the stadium on the edge of my seat The Mets seemed headed for certain defeat They had zero, the other team three 'Twas all but over, many would agree... The 'agony of defeat' would surely sting But wait, the fat lady had yet to sing This game wasn't over, it'd just begun For the score was now, three to one! 'Twas the bottom of the ninth, and a fast ball flew Bang, now the Mets had two! The fans grew quiet, they'd lost their glee A curve ball came in, pow!, it was tied at three! In extra innings the teams battled on The fans wanted one, just one more run They got their wish, the Mets now had four But the game was soon tied It was now four to four However it ended some fans would be sore It was the eleventh, and it was now 5-5 I wondered then if the Astros could survive The answer came in the twelfth when the Mets took the lead And so it ended, it ended indeed They had come from behind and the game they had won! The Astros knew it was over when the fat lady sang!
