Dear Jo, Today, as I near age 41, I have been granted one wish, the ability to get a letter to you from me now. The first thing I have to say is, I held our first real love in my heart for 20 years. You shouldn't. He moves on to marry someone else, then another, and another. He leaves a string of broken hearts behind him. But, give it time, you do find something better, someone better. You find, only by God's help, someone who sees who you are inside, someone who can read your heart. This person is very kind and patient, as well as forgiving. You can make each other happy if you both share everything that you have, everything that you are. Don't let your illnesses discourage you. Through everything, just hold on. Hold on to your courage, hold on to your faith that it can and will get better. Hold on to your identity as a loving, caring individual. Don't allow the critics to turn you bitter. Hold on to your ability to love and be loved. Hold on, when you find the one who loves you truly, just hold on. Show him that you can and will be his partner for life. But, gently remind him that a shared love, a shared life, means you are a team. Teammates help to carry the burdens the other faces. Teammates cannot always remove the pressure, but they can provide light to help you find a way to keep going when life seems to be too much. Be that light whenever he needs you to be. Take the initiative when you see him in pain. He needs you but doesn't want to burden you. Make him see that holding him in your heart is not, and could never be, a burden. Make him feel the love you have for him. Please, if you want to avoid a rollover car accident, always have dad check the pressure in your tires when you have the snow tires put on. If the pressure is too high, do something about it. Take time to crochet or knit occasionally. Or fill your house with music. Make your house a comfortable home. Love, Jo.
