Night Walk In the Park
Dead of night, only light from the half moon, casting shadows accentuating objects into horrifying visions within the mind, gentle breeze wafting north to south, slight dryness within my mouth, the smell of smoke from the villagers chimneys, courage must be shown through the gated Entrance on the path of no return tentatively walking flinching at the sound of an unusual cough, disabling fear enveloped my being to be relieved that it's a roe deer, looking ahead my eyes revealed an image of a human, not moving yet danger enthralled my core, got to show bravery before I am consumed by my grave, onward ready to defend myself, expectations of getting a thump to find it was an oak tree stump, past the the point of no return though still full of concern, my mind playing tricks nerve beginning to dwindle must go on sound of the brook washing over a water fall then suddenly a noise with fear I see a pair of piercing eyes, then a hoot, a loud shrill of a moor hen or a coot so I look round and see a silhouette of a mallard duck, in this darkness my imagination is really playing tricks, I have no recognition of why or abide by any tactics, my senses have reached breaking point self preservation is now paramount I just can't pretend,my night walk in the park has come to an end. fear overwhelmed me to be precise, I showed and overcome cowardice.
