He Went Up Her Hill To Fetch a Pail of Water
He went up her hill to fetch a pail of water He looked into the wishing well It was dark, yet enchanting When he put his ear next to it It seemed to be calling his name Like an oasis is to a dessert beckoning a thirsty man He was thirsty, too The edges of the well began to stand up It seemed to be moist in there Or was that his imagination It began to coo, too Or was that his imagination He stood there, staring, mesmerized At the sheer beauty of the wishing well He searched his pockets He pulled out a nickel He thought he heard a voice say is that all you have He nodded yes He imagined he heard a laugh He then closed his eyes and threw it in It barely skimmed the surface A few minutes later he uncorked his wish A gift of raindrops To the wishing well it was no big deal As he looked into the reflection of the well At least he smiled at all the legends He thought he heard a voice Next connie pachecho 1/7/2016
