Sailing In a Dreamboat
I love to go sailing when the moon rides high, under a canopy of stars, that lightens the sky. Making no firm plans as to where I will go I cast off from the pier, then to dreamland I go! It’s only a small boat, with an old tattered sail, but it takes me to lands in the moonlight’s pale. Its hull much battered bears many a scratch, whilst the sail - seldom raised, wears an old faded patch. I go where it chooses, there’s no need for an oar, to sail off to lands, I’ve never been to before. Though my stays are brief, it’s exciting they are, where folks that I meet, treat me as a Star! With a clasp of my hand, and a greeting smile, I’m invited to stay, and chat for awhile. When it’s time I must leave, I suffer no regrets, for trips such as these, are as good as it gets! Back at the moorings, I tie up my boat, and think on the pleasures of my journey afloat. I’ll remember fond moments, of my overnight dream, and remember with love, folks met in my dream. On waking at dawn, my night’s sailing done, I think on my night of overnight fun. But of all places I’ve seen in countries afar, though distant they were, I’ve never sailed far. I’ve cruised in my dreamboat to all the world’s ends, which is thought as a legend, by my family and friends. Should you wish to come and go sailing with me? We’ll meet in our dreams, and sail out to sea! So if you’d join me tonight, to go on a trip? Just come as you are, without baggage or grip. We’ll go where ever dreams take us. It’s a surprise, that always awaits us, when we close our eyes. Rhymer. December 17th, 2016.
