Nostalgia
Driving through Levittown I slow down and pause when I get to my old childhood home, knowing it looks different but in my mind's eye picture it from long ago, There's my brothers, sisters and I all playing in the back yard, I can still hear the peals of laughter and see the spot where I fell and got a scar, And there we are a little older and playing our 45's on our record player, out on the back porch singing and dancing trying not to disturb the neighbors, Having barbecues every summer with my parents having people over, we'd constantly have music playing while we played in the clover, And in the winter time sitting by the fire watching television or doing our homework, feeling nice warm and cozy running to the window to watch the falling snowflakes, Then I saw all seven of us packing up to leave in the winter of 1972, saying good-bye to our childhood house to move farther away to start anew, With all of us in the car we didn't get far when my older sister started to cry, when I look back with all the fond nostalgia Levittown memories I can certainly understand why. 11-24-16
