Unbearable Beauty In White
Feather-like snowflakes were gently falling They glistened like diamonds sparkling under my feet I walked slowly on my crutches and crept into the church Sweet scented gardenias perfumed the air I drank in their fragrance as I made my way to the empty seat at the back The organist started to play and there you stood silhouetted in the doorway Two tiny bridesmaids held the train of your white fur lined cape Which covered your figure hugging lace bridal gown Everyone gasped as you walked down the aisle I had never ever seen you looking more beautiful Our eyes met and for a second you hesitated … Then you walked past me and stood next to my ex best friend Seeing you at the front of the church was like a dagger ripping out my heart I couldn’t bear to look at you for a minute longer You’d been the love of my life… He’d promised he’d take care of you when I had to serve in Afghanistan… I’d got injured and spent months in hospital and suffered from amnesia When I finally came home I was a changed man… and he'd filled my shoes I turned and limped away knowing I'd lost absolutely everything Unbearable beauty in White Contest Sponsored by Frank Herrera 11~07~16
