I lay down enslaved by life, and as I sleep freedom falls upon me. Gone is my world cast with nervous endings. I catch my breath as I enter a place of equality for all. Good dreams or bad, they come free to both the rich and poor. Here, we all chase rainbows across a sky of fuzzy shadows, locked beneath a surface no longer made up of black and white lines. There are no 'sting in the tail' job losses, or doctors giving bad news that can't be rescinded by the seven o'clock alarm. This is a world of endless possibilities. Where dead fathers make phone calls. And long divorced wives, visiting with brattish children, having suddenly turned sweet. The irony of it often wakes me. Breathing under water or floating unaided battles my sleeping senses . Each step taken is the equal of any man's.
