Hit and Miss
I used to see her riding her bicycle down our street everyday Most times I would smile and wave, occasionally I would shout hi But always wishing I had more to say One day, I worked up the nerve to finally ask her what's her name She blushed, then told me, and sped off faster than she came The summer of that year, new thoughts blossomed in me Fresh tendrils of virgin feelings Excitement was the rush that carried my unfurled heart out to sea So I saved up my affection all winter When spring arrived, I saw her riding by, and I flung true to the object of my desire That snowball hit her in the back of the neck After that fiasco, my summer fling had flamed out We never became more than polite friends I often wish with regret, the snowball I threw true that day I wished that snowball had missed, I sent the wrong message to her I wished instead I had threw her a kiss
