My Soldiers Heart
At 3:55 AM, my soldier wakes up, I know he doesn't want to leave my side But he is a soldier, it's not a choice we take it with stride He does all he needs to do before putting on a uniform that many are afraid to wear I put on my robe, my slippers, and grab my phone, then I meet my solider down stairs. Why you ask,... Why would I get up so early when I could simply lay in bed and rest... Because my time with him each day is limited and I love my soldier, he is the best. He laces up his Army boots, as we sit outside and talk. With my phone in hand, I find myself watching the clock, At 4:20, I sigh because it is time for him to go It will be sundown before I get to see him again Yes, its hard, we know. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter about the time we had to spend apart Because nothing out weighs how much I love my solider, I truly love my soldiers heart.
