The Cottoncandy Stand
He never really gave it a thought but on that rare occasion For it's not what he sought, he was of another persuasion He had his daily routine as his weekends were booked too As that's what I always seen and that's what I always knew He would talk about anything from old cars to exotic places And all that information he'd bring in going about his paces But on one thing he never spoke usually just walking away I for one never thought it a joke that this man didn't pray So for him I started to pray knowing myself to be powerless I prayed that he'd find Your Way if the Lord would only bless Two years soon went past and I didn't see any change at all That company didn't last I remember that day we got the call Seven more years went by as even my prayers did all but fade I gave up, I won't lie who knows maybe if the company stayed When in line at the state fair who should come up from behind There he was standing right there but that didn't blow my mind It was the words he would say, words I've spoken often before Like when I used to pray that the Lord would change his core In myself I am powerless yet through the Grace of His Name How God does bless, and for you I've been praying the same
