Night Sands
The evenings breeze moves the curtains, ever slowly, motioning to the world their compliance. Behind them hides the moon, rising, with clouded scattered light, like a flock of birds frightened by thunder. On the table, a candle with smoke lifting upward, after being snuffed out curtains parting, the moon's soft light, an empty wine glass, your fingers motionless on its stem, your eyes lifting slowly with smiles All this cradled in my mind, as I rise, reach for your hand and kiss your eyes with mine Knowing that the night is still young and we have a date with the ocean's sand where we will leave footprints trailing, filled by the dark water of the night leaving only two sets at the high water mark, facing each other 7/20/16
