A Walk Among the Dead (Original Version)
In the blackest hour of the blackest night, That the world had ever seen, In the darkest dark, In the blackest night, At the darkest hour in between, I went forth among the tombs, For a walk among the dead... On that night so dark, Among the graves so stark, I went walking among the dead... Mists swirling around the past, Souls restless, no "Peace at Last" I felt the dead stirring, Beneath the ground, The earth did tremble, With their moaning sound... They called to me... Of their plight.. It became yet darker, There was no light... Not a star to mar the... coal black sky, Nor a moon to detract the eye... Dead darkness and a feeling of trembling, Prepared that moment When a face resembling, My long dead love... Appeared at her tomb... There were others, grey and misty... Among the stones... That were their only remembrance... The dance of death began... All eyes on me... I knew they asked... How easily they were forgotten.. In their confines... their once strong bodies rotten... All that they had been, To so many... Now so unknown Except for below, Where it was reflected on over and over again Flavored with their sorrow... Death is sad, and happy... For the dead danced that night... As they welcomed me to join them... Please come with me... In a fantasy of then... Walk with me... And walk with the dead... yet once again.
