I woke up and you had gone After the shock That struck When you said, “Take it off “ When you opened up; And I finally felt your eyes. I am tired and I need you in my life. She said, “Dear god, Please stay the night.” I wore your clothes home, When you woke up And it was time for me to go. I used to drown to fill the wound; Until I couldn’t feel whatever it was That kept me away from you. I was too far gone by the time I could reach inside. What did I ever give To everyone that ever touched me, But a reason for them to leave? I begged myself to go free. I am standing like a fool With words I don’t owe With handfuls of nothing to show. And fall at your feet. You can see me Undress you In my dreams. I don't know what you want from me. I am forbidden, And you are a dream. Pull back the curtains; Let love breathe like a wound. Let love Open you like It did when I first saw you Unclothed and Dumbfounded-- Undone and Undue. We are lying in the grass on an April afternoon; Unfurl. Open the gate and let me Show you everything I have to lose. Show me the cracks that run along the spine Of the dark you try to hide. Your neck Meets my mouth— Shutter. The sun comes out; And it always comes too soon. Love me before the dream drops out, Like great things always do.
