Rainy Days and Stormy Nights
Rainy Days and Stormy Nights! Rain continued to fall throughout the day, at times it fell quite heavy and then seemed to slow to nothing more than a mist. It was nothing more than a wet, dark, windy day. After a long and dreary day of nothing but rain, it’s time to settle into bed. Night has arrived and would seem has brought a small break, at least for now from the pounding rain. Now under the covers listening as it begins to rain once more ever so softly. The sky lights up as lighting flashes several times appearing to move closer with each strike. Suddenly a boom of thunder hits extremely close rattling my nerves and shaking the windows. A raging storm now in full force, ripping winds, lightning right outside my window, thunder that shakes all the windows has now taken out the electricity. The wind continues to howl its victory as something falls in the distance. Branches give way under strong gust of wind as thunder hits again as if cheering the wind onward. Lightning flashes as I peek out the window, trying to glimpse the damage this storm is wreaking on my beautiful forest. Lighting so close that it hurts my eyes, it’s followed by thunder that causes me to jump. Quickly, I get back in bed and cover up as if to hide from the storm! My eyes get heavy, I become relaxed; the thunder eases up and the lighting strikes fewer. Only a soft steady rain remains that gently urges me closer to sleep. The ending of the storm has brought about the singing of nature’s song, finally I am able to drift off to sleep. Everything is alright after a rainy day and stormy night! Today there is sunshine and beauty as I start clearing the storms remints. Debbie Knapp
