What We Were
We were oil and water Immiscible Not right for each other Unable to mix Oil always thought it was better than water We were alcohol and fire Dangerous together One made the other stronger While the other faded away Disappearing into nothing We were soap and water A cliché partnership Pretty much expected Worked well together It seemed to make sense We were fruit and vegetable One sweeter than the other A healthy relationship But seeds needed to be removed They would cause problems We were Hydrogen and Oxygen H2O Perfect combination Together we were something so much more Than when we were apart We were curvy and straight One out of the ordinary One perfectly normal Two different styles And perspectives We were left and right Fate tried to send us in different directions But we ignored the signs No serendipity Didn’t need fate's approval I was me He was him We were us And together... We were perfectly imperfect
